In a surprising turn of events, the UFC has booked undefeated flyweight Tatsuro Taira to headline his first UFC event against former title challenger Alex Perez. The main event is scheduled for June 15 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Tatsuro Taira, a rising Japanese fighter, has been making waves since joining the UFC in 2022. With an impressive record of 5-0, including three stoppages, he has quickly become a fan favorite. His most recent victory was a second-round TKO against Carlos Hernandez last December, pushing his overall record to an undefeated 15-0.
Perez, ranked No. 5 in the UFC flyweight division, is coming off a second-round knockout victory over Matheus Nicolau on April 27. This win snapped a three-fight skid for Perez, which included a title-fight loss to then-champion Deiveson Figueiredo.

Tatsuro Taira vs Alex Perez Will Be UFC Fight Night Main Event
The UFC had to shuffle its fight card to make this main event happen. Originally, Perez was slated to face Tagir Ulanbekov on June 15, while Taira was scheduled to fight Joshua Van on June 1 at UFC 302. However, the promotion split the matchups, allowing Ulanbekov and Van to square off on the June 15 UFC Fight Night lineup.
