The effort required to sound out Zabit Magomedsharipov’s name may seem all worth the effort given the way he is touted as the next big thing in the UFC.

Just three fights old in the UFC, Zabit has successfully captured the attention of fans and fellow fighters alike. Hailing from Dagestan – the same land very well known for producing the undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, Zabit’s decision to move to USA only for the sake of fighting in the UFC has so far proved to be a fruitful one.

As Magomedsharipov gears up to make his fourth Octagon appearance against a short notice opponent in Brandon Davis, his teammate and fellow veteran featherweight Frankie Edgar wished him the very best in his latest Instagram post.

Both Edgar and Zabit train under the same coach Mark Henry, known for producing renowned fighters Eddie Alvarez, Edson Barboza, and numerous others.

To say that Zabit’s head coach has rave reviews about him would be a vast understatement because Henry not only believes Magomedsharipov has what it takes to compete in the UFC. Henry feels like Magomedsharipov is a future champion with all the tools to compete with the best in the world right now.

The fight against Davis was originally scheduled to take place against Yair Rodriguez. However, the exciting matchup of the two upcoming featherweights had to be scrapped due to an injury suffered by Yair just two weeks before the fight.

Zabit’s opponent Brandon Davis hasn’t had much of a promising run in the UFC either. His three fight long UFC carrer has seen him losing two of them. His last fight came in the form of a unanimous decision loss to Enrique Barzola and his UFC debut resulted in a loss to Kyle Bochniak.

Bochniak, also, happens to be the last man that Magomedsharipov defeated at UFC 223. Sandwiched in between his losses is his win over the always exciting Steven Peterson.
