Tenzin Pema will be making her highly anticipated Matrix Fight Night debut on June 24th at the Siri Fort Stadium in the undercard of Matrix Fight Night 9. She will be fighting Puja Tomar in the women’s Atomweight category. This is a big step up in competition for Pema who will be fighting under such bright lights for the first time. On the other hand, her opponent Puja Tomar has fought under the banner of Matrix Fight Night before and also has experience fighting at ONE Championship.
Tenzin Pema last stepped inside the cage in 2019 when she took on Sarla Yadav at Ultimate Fighting League 3, which took place in Himachal Pradesh. She made her professional MMA debut in 2018 at Hosharafu Fighting Championship which is an Afghan MMA promotion.
Ahead of her fight against Puja Tomar, The MMA India Show had the opportunity to chat with Tenzin Pema through her manager Rupendra Sharma to get her thoughts on her upcoming fight and also preparation leading up to the biggest fight of her life.

How do you feel about making your debut in MFN? It’s the biggest platform for MMA fighters in India and you just made it to the top?
I feel blessed, my hard work is finally getting recognized. I would especially like to thank my manager Rupendra Sharma for giving me this blessing opportunity. I would also like to thank MFN for making my dream come true, i.e performing at the highest stage in India. Special thanks to our arm forces who are protecting our country and us, because of them we are enjoying this freedom and they are a big inspiration to me. Jai Hind.
What do you know about your opponent Puja Tomar? She is a veteran and has experience fighting in some of the top promotions in the country? What will be the game plan if you can reveal that?
I know her since my wushu days. We were in the same training academy. Yes, she is a veteran but she is also just another human like me. We have got a good fight plan for her, you’ll see them inside the cage tomorrow.
How has the training been for this fight?
The training camp has been great. I concentrated a lot on the ground and submission game. I’m ready to fight.
