Surprising turn of events unfold as the UFC will no longer have the services of one of the pioneers of female MMA in former champion, Cris Cyborg.

Speaking in an interview with UFC reporter Laura Sanko, White revealed that the Cyborg will no longer fight in the UFC. Cyborg after her win against Felicia Spencer at UFC 240 last weekend, encountered UFC President Dana White backstage for not granting her a rematch against Amanda Nunes and accusing him of passing questionable statements about her. The incident might have been a contributory factor towards Cyborg’s contract not being renewed.

“All this other (expletive) that she’s putting out there – again, to avoid fighting Amanda Nunes,” White said. “Message received. I get it. I’m going to release her from her contract. I will not match any offers.”

“She is free and clear to go to Bellator or any of these other organizations and fight these easy fights that she wants,” White said. “Done. Done deal. I will literally today have my lawyer draft a letter to her team that she is free and clear to go wherever she wants. We’re out of the Cyborg business.”

White also responded Cyborg’s allegations of addressing her with former UFC legend Wanderlei Silva. However that was before she signed with the UFC.

“They were asking me about Cyborg and I said to the media, ‘Guys did you see her at the MMA Awards? Did you not think she was on steroids?’ She got up to get her award and she walks up the stairs and I was saying that she looked like Wanderlei Silva in a dress. What I meant was, she had the same physique as Wanderlei Silva. Then one month later, Wanderlei Silva evades a drug test and gets a three-year suspension from the sport.

Cyborg broke her silence apologizing White as well. However now it seems too late. (via Twitter):

Nevertheless Cyborg (21-2-1) compiled an impressive 6-1 record in the UFC. Cyborg’s only loss against now double champ Amanda Nunes came after being undefeated for 15 long years.
