Thiago Santos continued his astounding run, as in his 4th fight in 7 months, he put away Jan Blachowicz and picked up a win in the UFC. Following his win, his eyes are now set on the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion — Jone Jones. He had a message for Jon Jones, and he wants it to reverberate around the entire world of MMA.
In an interview, he confessed that his knee had been feeling out of sorts leading up to the fight, but he did not let that stop him from putting away Jan Blachowicz. While the knee is still bothering him, he is certain that it is nothing too serious.
Santos feels that he will be the next fighter to face Jones should he win against Anthony Smith. However, he feels that if that happened, he would hold a distinct advantage.
“For sure, I won’t be the favourite. For sure, they will think Jon Jones will beat me. And I will shock the world, as I have been doing. I’m here, in this position where I’m at, for a reason. I want my shot. I want my opportunity. I’ve earned it. I want my opportunity. Just give me the opportunity, and I will shock the world.”
It is important to keep in mind that a fight for the title between Jon Jones and Thiago Santos can only happen if Anthony Smith loses at UFC 235. Although Jones has shown immense ability, it would not be wise to count out the unpredictable Smith.
