UFC is targeting a light-heavyweight fight between former title challenger Thiago Santos and an up and comer Johnny Walker for a UFC card in September.
The UFC light-heavyweight division has since seen a lot of contenders since Jon Jones vacated the belt and moved on to the heavyweight to fight for the heavyweight championship. Jon Jones in his reign cleaned out the entire division and defeated every challenger that came in his path. After Jon Jones, Jan Blachowicz becomes the new champion defeating Dominick Reyes in their title fight.
Jan Blachowicz is now set to defend his light heavyweight Thorne against the division’s veteran Glover Teixeira at UFC 266. Reyes was recently defeated by Jiri Prochazka and the Czech is supposed to be the next big thing in the division. Another rising prospect is Aleksandar Rakic. So UFC is slowly setting up some new contenders in the Light-heavyweight division for the champion to face or a new champion to rise to the occasion.

UFC has recently announced a lot of big fights coming up and this fight is one of them. It’s a very explosive matchup as both of them are known for their striking and have knockout power in their hands.
Thiago Santos is on a downfall since his loss against Jon Jones. He was one of those fighters who put it on the former champ Jon Jones and took the fight to decision. He had injured his knee at the beginning of that fight but still went on and had few moments in the fight.
But now he is on a three-fight losing streak. After losing a decision to then-champion Jon Jones at UFC 239, Santos was submitted by Glover Teixeira last November and then lost a unanimous decision to Aleksandar Rakic. He is now in desperate need of a win to keep his journey towards UFC gold alive.
On the other hand, Johnny Walker was the rising protect in the division and was just one or two wins away from fighting for the title against Jon Jones. He was knocking guys out in the very first round and was catching lots of attention due to his flashy style.
He lost his first fight inside the octagon in a stunning upset after Corey Anderson knocked him out and after that, he faced another decision loss to Nikita Krylov. Walker snapped his two-fight losing streak in his last fight in September. Walker got a victory over Ryan Spann by adding another finish to his resume. He was supposed to fight Jimmy Crute at UFC 261 but pulled out due to injury.
This fight between two of the best knockout artist in the light-heavyweight division will excite a lot of UFC fans.
