Just like Anthony Smith, Thiago Santos too moved up in weight after initially somewhat slightly struggling at Middleweight inside the octagon to light heavyweight. And just like his former opponent Smith, Santos too has found himself at the centre of some great success in the light heavyweight division and has scored two big consecutive knockouts against the likes of Jimi Manuwa and Jan Blachowicz. Santos too feels now that he has done enough to secure a title shot against the champion Jon Jones and believes that he will indeed shock the world.
Santos recently addressed the media backstage at UFC 235 and said that he will shock the world and defeat Jones. Here’s what he had to say:
I did what I needed to do to get here, and there’s no other path, it’s my time now. I’m going to shock the world.
