Tim Kennedy announced yesterday that he is coming out of retirement and returning to fight professionally.

The former UFC veteran announced his retirement from the sport back in January 2017. He had also formerly competed for Strikeforce, the WEC, ShoMMA, HDNetFights, and represented the Chicago Red Bears in the IFL. During his run in the UFC he amassed a record of 3-2. However, his last two fights were defeats against prominent middleweights Yoel Romero and Kelvin Gastelum. Following the same up, he announced his retirement from the sport on 17th January 2017.

However, 2 years down the line Kennedy couldn’t keep peace with the demons inside of him and hence, has now decided to return to active competition.

I have decided to return to professional fighting. This short retirement reinvigorated my passion to compete. I’m now faster and stronger than I have ever been. That yearning to walk into the Octagon is something that I just can’t live without. #MMA#UFC#ROOSTER#comeback#title

One will have to wait and see if Kennedy is welcomed by the UFC or will he have to turn towards some other organisation. However, if he does come back to the UFC, finding his way to the top in a stacked 185 pounds division will be a tough task for him.
