Former UFC two-time bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw has picked his winner between the much-anticipated rematch between the bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling and former champion Petr Yan. The duo is set to clash at UFC 273 in a rematch as previously they fought at UFC 259 where Aljamain Sterling won the fight and the title via DQ after Petr Yan hit him with an illegal knee that cost him his title. Now the duo will get the opportunity to settle their score once it for all at UFC 273 which will take place on April 9, 2022, at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, United States.

Now ahead of their rematch, Former bantamweight champion and the no.2 ranked bantamweight contender TJ Dillashaw has picked his winner for this fight and has also made his callout for facing the winner.

“He got that title win by DQ and kind of played it up a bit too, right? So, I think Petr Yan’s the real champ,” Dillashaw said. “I think he’s going to show that. Look, we’re in the world of MMA, anything can happen. Sterling’s a very strong competitor, great grappler, and all-around athlete, but I think Petr Yan is more of a fighter. He’s got that mentality and he’s the guy I expect to fight coming up here at the end of the year.”

“Aljamain definitely has to out-grapple him to get the fight done. I mean, to be honest, he would probably have to submit him. I don’t think he’s going to be able to keep that pace up to keep him down and his striking is just not dangerous enough to make Yan believe in it. So, I think Yan just has to stick to the same game plan he did last time. Be patient, make sure to defend the takedowns, and kind of dominate him.”

TJ Dillashaw last fought against Cory Sandhagen and got a close decision win which could have gone either way. He was coming into this fight after being away from the sport for two years as he was banned after his last fight against then-champion Henry Cejudo. TJ was banned for using illegal substances to help him get an edge over his opponents. Now TJ is recovering from surgery and is planning to fight this year and wants to face Petr Yan for the title.

“Yan would be the guy I want to fight,” Dillashaw said. “I’d say like, September, October. Shoot, they’re going to Abu Dhabi on October 22, I think that would be pretty dope. I’ve always wanted to go to the Middle East. Easier for him, he’s Russian, right? So, I think that would be a good time.”

“I’ve already proved myself. I came back off that suspension, fought the No. 1 contender on one f*cking leg, excuse my language, and was able to get that win. Now it’s about getting it for myself, getting that belt back.”

Who do you guys think will win a fight between TJ Dillashaw and Petr Yan if they fight in the future?
