As Khabib Nurmagomedov is serving his suspension for the UFC 229 post-fight brawl, he has made it clear that he will be out of action until October. He was also fined a staggering ₹3.6 crore ($500,000) by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Most MMA fans want him to fight former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson who is coming off of an impressive win against Anthony Pettis at UFC 229. Ferguson was dealing with personal problems recently and was under medical care.
The pair have been booked four times by the UFC and the matchup has fallen through multiple times, but today Tony Ferguson tweeted that he has passed his medical testings and wants to make the fight that the fans have been wanting for years now.
Passed my Med Eval last week. I’m excited about retaining my ufc Lightweight Status that was stripped due to injury. Khabib not actively competing over some time should be stripped. A high Rank title fight/superfight between @TeamKhabib & I is what the fans want #defendorvacate pic.twitter.com/Iyq5Tff6ww
