Tony Ferguson didn’t have the last word in his first encounter with Charles Oliveira, but “El Cucuy” believes that with proper training, he can turn the tide and defeat the Brazilian in a rematch.

In the aftermath of the eventful UFC 274 last month, Tony Ferguson and Charles Oliveira had been involved in some online back and forth, with Oliveira offering his fellow 155-pounder training and Ferguson responding in equivocal remarks.

Their first meet in the Octagon, which occurred at UFC 256 back in December 2020, became a one-sided affair for “Do Bronx”, who picked up a unanimous decision win over Ferguson. The latter, in his defense, revealed that he didn’t train for the fight as it was on short notice.

Cut back to the present, during an online Q&A interaction with the Twitterati when a fan asked who would be a tougher fight- Khabib or Oliveira, Ferguson revisited his first fight with Oliveira and revealed that with proper training, he can avenge the loss in the rematch.

“Nothing personal, but I really didn’t train anything for Charles. He’s A Good kid who needed a boost. I’ll see him again. Any of them & with real training I win. Khabibi on the other hand would be a fun one the fans would like,” tweeted Ferguson.

Now, it remains to see whether or not Ferguson will earn a rematch with Oliveira in the coming days. Oliveira, even though he missed weight before UFC 274 and was stripped off of the Lightweight title, defeated Justin Gaethje in the main event and remains one of the top Lightweight contenders.

Ferguson, on the other hand, suffered his fourth defeat in a row against Michael Chandler at UFC 274, in addition to the back to back losses against Gaethje, Oliveira and Beneil Dariush prior to that.
