UFC top lightweight fighter Tony Ferguson said that Conor McGregor is not willing to fight any top lightweight contender.

Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson are two of the superior names in UFC let alone the Lightweight division. There’s no secret that both have been hovering under each other’s noses for quite some time now but, despite that, they never came face to face inside the Octagon. However, if not in the ring, Twitter is one place where they often indulge in a back-and-forth conversation.

UFC lightweight Ferguson recently took to Twitter and continued his series of call-outs with Conor McGregor being the most recent target. ‘El Cucuy’ has been hitting the headlines as of late following his first call-out of Michael Chandler. It seems as though Ferguson is keen to end the year on a high note and he wants a fight. On his Twitter account, Ferguson took a shot at McGregor for not having the balls to fight a top contender.

“No Balls To Fight A Top Contender. @TheNotoriousMMA you’ve washed up laddy. It’s Improper TUF 13 Bish’ Champ Shit Only You Will Always Be A Replica, Coward. Congrats On The Success of # TheItalianJob See you soon Leprechaun. -Champ”

Tony Ferguson and Conor Mcgregor could happen

Ferguson and McGregor have never locked horns in the Octagon despite being two of the biggest stars in the UFC lightweight division. Ferguson has run into injury issues at several points during his career that led to a megafight with Khabib Nurmagomedov being stalled several times, and which stalled his progression in the title picture.

El Cucuy’ is coming off a loss to Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight strap. The fight came together on short notice and Gaethje slashed Tony’s 12-fight win streak. Not to mention, he was also responsible for taking away the title shot Ferguson had earned. This left the former TUF winner out in the cold once more, a narrative he was all too familiar with. He also had a match-up against Dustin Poirier which was teased for UFC 254 in October, the bout never came to fruition. Despite his fifth-round TKO loss to Gaethje, Tony remains an elite combatant in the division. His next fight will serve as a guaranteed action pack battle.

Conor McGregor last fought back in January 2020 where he stunned Donald Cerrone with a 40-second TKO. The bout took place at welterweight and showcased the fact that McGregor was back in prime shape. However, he’s now back in the lightweight division and has his sights firmly affixed towards UFC gold. Conor McGregor is now gearing up for a fight against Dustin Poirier, who is ranked No.2 in the 155 Pound weight class.
