It looks like that the long-awaited rematch lightweight fight between former interim champion Tony Ferguson and UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will be on soon.
In an Instagram post, Ferguson teased a big fight announcement which will be coming soon.
Ferguson had previously stated that he wants to fight Khabib later this year at UFC 245 which is scheduled to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on December 14.
However, the UFC is looking to make the fight early next year according to his manager Rizvan Magomedov.
“Khabib’s next fight is being planned for March-April,” Magomedov told Russian news agency TASS.
Tony is currently riding on a twelve fight winning streak and he hasn’t lost a fight since 2013. In his last fight he defeated Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone via TKO.
On the other hand, Khabib is undefeated in his professional career and is coming off of an impressive fourth-round submission victory over Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi earlier this year.
Khabib and Ferguson were scheduled to fight each other on four separate occasions and the last time they were supposed to fight each other was back in April of 2018 at UFC 223. It was the very same event where Conor McGregor attacked Khabib Nurmagomedov’s bus with a dolly at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
