UFC lightweight contender Tony Ferguson has offered to train alongside Brock Lesnar for a potential fight against Jon Jones. Ferguson’s offer, while seemingly from out of nowhere, shouldn’t come as a big surprise as he and Lesnar have known each other since Lesnar was his coach for his winning season of “The Ultimate Fighter” in 2011.

From the outside looking in it’s quite hard to figure out the relationship that Tony Ferguson and Brock Lesnar have. One is a heavyweight brute who has swapped UFC for the bright lights and cosier surroundings of the WWE, while the other is a lightweight mongrel who furiously scraps it out on the octagon floor.

Both though, have a huge amount of respect for each other having trained together in the past. The camaraderie started in the gym when they found out that they both came from the midwest; Ferguson is from Michigan while Lesnar comes from South Dakota. Their friendship grew from there and perhaps Ferguson puts it best when he says ‘I could relate to someone walking around with Cauliflower ears’.

When Tony Ferguson was making his way into the UFC, he took the route of appearing on The Ultimate Fighter. On season 13, he was coached by Lesnar and won the entire season of the show. Hoping to return the love, Ferguson took to social media to offer his training services to Lesnar. What’s so great about this, though, isn’t just that Ferguson tweeted out an offer to help train Lesnar for a potential fight with Jones. He tweeted it at Jones

It’s worth noting that Jones saw Ferguson’s tweet and replied with a laughing-face emoji, but the former light heavyweight champ deleted it almost as quickly as he posted it.

Jones vs Lesnar or Jones vs Miocic?

Recently, it was discovered that Lesnar failed to reach a new deal with the WWE, thus making him available for other professional wrestling leagues, as well as mixed martial arts organizations. Of course, UFC fans are hoping for a return. Now that Lesnar is a free agent, there are tons of possibilities for him, including a potential super fight against Jon Jones, who is hoping to enter the heavyweight division in a major way.

Although Jon would like a shot at the heavyweight title, UFC President Dana White has stated he won’t leapfrog Francis Ngannou. However, White is apparently okay with Jones and Lesnar fighting as long as both men want it.
