Tony ‘El Cucuy’ Ferguson has reached out to Dana White to request him to make the fight with Dustin Poirier happen, and pay him duly.
After getting excited for a potential Tony Ferguson vs Dustin Poirier fight at UFC 254 on October 24, fans were left heartbroken when it was announced that the fight was cancelled as the UFC and Dustin Poirier could not reach a conclusion for their negotiations. Both fighters had verbally agreed to the fight on short notice, but Poirier said that he will fight only if he is properly compensated. “I just need to be compensated if they want this fight. Simple as that.” Poirier said. “I’m a prizefighter and the prize needs to be right.” He later announced to ESPN that the negotiation did not reach a positive conclusion and that they did not come to terms. Although we don’t know how far they were in their negotiations, but we hope they were not too far, as Tony Ferguson has reignited the hope for the fight to happen as scheduled.
In what can be called a rare occurrence in the UFC, a fighter has publically asked for his opponent’s pay raise for a fight to happen. The fighter is none other than Tony Ferguson, who is called the boogeyman of the division for a reason. Ferguson took to social media to ask Dana White to pay Dustin Poirier and to make the fight happen.

Tony here is not only taking a stand for his opponent, which in itself is rare, but is also fighting for all the fans that are excited for the fight.
Dustin Poirier’s reaction to Tony
Looking at the spirit of Tony Ferguson, and appreciating his effort towards making the fight happen, Dustin was left in awe and tweeted back at him saying “Tony’s the type of guy who would manage his opponent and get him a new contract for the fight to happen.”

One month away from the event, it will be interesting to see if the UFC is able to get in touch with Poirier again and make the fight happen, which is sure to be a historic event in the UFC.
