WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder successfully defended his title as he knocked out Dominic Breazeale in the first round at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Deontay Wilder started the round like his usual self, throwing the long jabs, he hit Dominic with few clean shots and sends him into the corner, but Dominic comes back with his own hard right hand, which wobbles him a little, but it doesn’t take long as Wilder lands a clean a looping right hand to the jaw that drops Breazeale. He tries to get up, but couldn’t beat the referee’s count.
Deontay Wilder now improves his record to 41-0-1 with 40 knockouts.
Here’s how Twitter reacted:

Deontay Wilder just one-punch KOed Dominic Breazeale at 2:17 of round 1, a flush right hand on the chin that left the mandatory challenger laid out for the count. Knockout of the Year! #WilderBreazeale

Tyson Fury deserves to be in the mix. But Joshua-Wilder is the biggest fight in boxing and the biggest heavyweight fight this century. Enough already — make a deal.

Hey I know Inoue was unreal today but I'm sorry Wilder stole the day IMO. That soul crushing right hand is what we all really watch for
— Vince Cummings (@VinceCummings81) May 19, 2019
I don't know if Wilder ever threw a better right hand in his life, in the gym or in a fight. That was a sledgehammer.

🗣️ Deontay Wilder: "It's one thing to say something, and it's another thing to actually do it. Tonight that didn't happen and I'm happy that it didn't happen. He gets to go home back to his family."

That shot breazeal got knocked out with is the same shot @Tyson_Fury took and got up from acting like nothing happened. Wilders power is something, furys chin and determination is also something interesting
