Today, Daniel Cormier showed his heavyweight domination by submitting Derrick Lewis in the second round to successfully defend his UFC heavyweight title for the first time at the main event of UFC 230 in the historic venue of Madison Square Garden in New York City.
In the beginning, Lewis tried to be aggressive by fighting tall and throwing snapping straight punches and kicks to the body, but he got taken down in the first round by Cormier and was dominated with him being on top of the Black Beast. Similar start happened in round two, but this time, Lewis was submitted comfortably by Cormier.
In the post-fight interview, Cormier called out WWE champion Brock Lesnar and told him to bring the WWE title as well, since he jokingly said he wants to become WWE champion as well and said that UFC 235 will be the last time he steps inside the Octagon.

In the Co-main event, Chris Weidman got knocked out by Jacare Souza in the third and final round of their middleweight non-title bout.
In the undercard bout, David Branch got brutally knocked out by Jared Cannonier in the second round just minutes after the round begun. Branch was winning the fight with his elite wrestling skills, until the haymaker was landed on him.
Rising Star Israel Adesanya showed why he is considered as the best prospect in the UFC as he extended his winning streak to 14-0 in a dominant showdown against Derek Brunson as he knocked Brunson out in the first round with just seconds on the clock.
UFC 230 was an overall solid event with a lot of stoppage victories. Twitter went frenzy during the entire UFC 230 card. Here are the top reactions.

Israel Adesanya is going to become a UFC Champion within a year of making his promotional debut. Remember this tweet come February, when he steps in for an injured Whittaker or Gastellum and shocks the MMA world. 🇳🇿

Derek Brunson marks Israel Adesanya’s fourth win inside a calendar year in the UFC.
12 months. One year. Give it one year before this kid becomes a world champion. Get used to his name. #UFC230 pic.twitter.com/YkFC2DvHAq

And there it is. Cannonier finds his moment and makes the most of it. Beating David Branch is hard enough. To do it on short notice as a weight class debut is sensational.

David Branch entered the Octagon to Jay-Z’s “Coming of Age.” I’ve never heard somebody use this as walkout music but now that I have, David Branch wins the walkout music competition.

Jared Cannonier just took advantage of a major opportunity. Are you kidding? Cannonier came in 1-3 in his last four fights. Left light heavyweight division. Takes short notice fight against David Branch and finishes him in the second round. What a huge win for him.

Catching up on last nights fights and Souza stopping Weidman was one of the most compassionate things I’ve seen in a cage! He stops and doesn’t wanna hit him! Unbelievable.. Jacare Souza is a beast who absorbs EVERYTHING! Very good body puncher to which isn’t seen much in MMA. 👍

That was unreal. Jacare Souza pulled that right hand out from the depths of hell. What a win. Terrible, terrible stoppage though. I have no idea what Dan Miragliotta was looking at. #UFC230

This is how Jacare Souza looked at Dan Miragliotta when he knocked Chris Weidman our cold, then the referee decided to let him be a warrior. pic.twitter.com/0ZFT2xWqTS

OMG. Jacare Souza by KO in the third. Weidman devastated by a punch, was reaching for Jacare's leg but completely out of it. Two absolutely heartbreaking losses in Madison Square Garden for Chris Weidman. Massive win for Jacare, who may finally get his title shot.

If you're in attendance at UFC 230 and booing the first takedown by Daniel Cormier then you should be kicked out of the arena and never allowed back.
