One half of the world-renowned twin Ruotolo brothers, Tye Ruotolo, will clash with his arch-nemesis Dante Leon for the ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Title in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 31.
On 3 May at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, the pair will go toe-to-toe for the third time in their careers.
The 22-year-old phenom in Ruotolo made his ONE debut against his compatriot and legend in Garry Tonon, submitting him with a D’Arce choke in just 97 seconds.
Since that sensational debut win in 2022, he hasn’t looked back. The Atos superstar has amassed a phenomenal promotional record of 7-0.
Leon, however, won’t be an easy opponent for him. Ruotolo still believes his BJJ knowledge is superior to Leon’s, and he has a lot of moves up his sleeves.
“I just think I know more jiu-jitsu than him in the sense where I’ve had more rolls than he’s had. I’ve felt more than he’s felt,” Ruotolo said.
The reigning champion is known for his aggressive approach and submission-hunting skills from any position. With that, he plans to finish the trilogy fight as soon as possible.
“All I know is I’m just gonna come in hot like I usually do. And, as long as I’m a good version of myself, I think the match is gonna be over pretty quick,” Ruotolo said.
“I’ve got a big bag of tricks I could throw at him, and I’m planning on getting him out pretty quick.”
The American and Canadian superstars fought each other in 2020, with Leon winning, and again in 2021, where Ruotolo submitted him to level the score.
Days before his title clash against the 29-year-old, Ruotolo laid out his path to victory.
“I’m going for a lot of those quick kills and trying not to drag my opponent in the deeper waters before I get the finish. I want to be able to get in and get out. I don’t want to be on the mat longer than I need to,” Ruotolo said.
