Tyron Woodley wants to face Jake Paul. However, not in a boxing bout but inside the octagon cage.
Jake Paul is set to make his MMA debut in 2024 as a part of the PFL’s newly created Super Fight division and he is scheduled to face former UFC star Nate Diaz. Ahead of the fight, Woodley has issued a challenge for ‘The Problem Child.’
It’s worth noting that Jake and Tyron fought twice in the past but it was boxing on both occasions. The first match took place in August 2021 and Paul won by split decision on that occasion. Later that year, Tyron Woodley replaced Tommy Fury on short notice, and the former longtime UFC welterweight champion lost by KO in the 6th round.
Tyron Woodley wants an MMA match with Jake Paul
TMZ Sports recently spoke with Tyron Woodley, who was behind the microphone for Jake Paul’s winning match against Andre August last week.
“I think if you’re gonna fight anyone in MMA, you fight me MMA. I’m the one that did the numbers with you. I’m the one that did the millions and millions of views in the press conference. I’m the one that was a 5x champion. I’m the one who took the fight on 2 weeks’ notice,” Tyron Woodley said.
The UFC legend continued: “I was doing Cobra Kai for 14 hours straight. I trained at 3 AM and I saved that card. That card was not going to happen. People would not have been buying Christmas gifts had I not stepped up to the plate. So to talk about fighting anyone in MMA outside of me is disrespect.”
He further said: “If you really, really wanna prove that you can do it in my world, you fight the number one guy in that world.”
Tyron Woodley comments on Jake Paul’s performance
Jake’s boxing record sees 8-1 with five 5 KOs. T-Wood shared his thoughts on Paul’ performance against August, who was billed as the first true boxer he faced. It seems that ‘The Problem Child’ managed to impress Woodley. During the same interview, Woodley said:
“I thought he did a great job. I literally said, ‘Hey man, Andre better watch ducking his head ’cause he’s gonna get hit with an up, I couldn’t even say uppercut. I just got the U-P off and then he was sending him to the moon.”
We will have to wait and see if that lock horns in an MMA fight.
