UFC welterweight Tyron Woodley is ready to let his hands loose on Colby Covington and is even ready to get a point deduction for punching him in a sack.
The bad blood between the top UFC welterweights Tyron Woodley and Colby Covington is at a boiling point. A welterweight grudge match for the ages will headline the UFC’s upcoming card on Sept. 19 when former teammates Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley finally square off after spending years taking shots at each other through interviews and social media. In a matchup that’s been in talks for years, Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley will finally settle their differences inside the octagon.
Tyron Woodley in his recent Instagram live session talked with his fans in which he talked that he’s going to be back ad the old Tyron Woodley who was known for his amazingly fast and strong punches and is going to let his hands loose during his fight with Covington. He also said he’s ready to face the penalty for punching Covington in the nuts.
He said “I agree with you, I will let my hands go. You guys and your fans telling me ‘let your hands go, let your hands go,’ I need to let them go. You have that, you have my word I will let these hands go,” Woodley said on an Instagram Live. “I’ll let them go upside his head, body. I might even punch in the sack for the warning, bap. I will take the warning or even the point deduction, I feel good guys.”
Tyron Woodley vs Colby Covington The Bad Blood Fight
Tyron Woodley is currently on a two-fight losing streak. Tyron Woodley is 19-5-1 MMA and 9-4-1 in the UFC. In both of his last fights he was not throwing the offense he normally does. In his last two defeats, he lost all five rounds to Gilbert Burns, and to Kamaru Usman to lose his welterweight title.
Former UFC welterweight champion Woodley is also looking to get back in the fight game like the old times when he was the champion and went literally through the division. in his championship, reign Woodley had gone through 2 close fights with Wonderboy Thomson and then derailed the hype train of Darren Till. All Woodley fans are expecting to see his fast and powerful standup game.
Covington is coming a fifth-round stoppage loss to welterweight champion Kamaru Usman last December at UFC 245. Covington is 15-2 MMA and 9-2 in the UFC. The former UFC interim welterweight champion gave Usman his toughest battle to date and will look to return to title contention when he takes on longtime rival Tyron Woodley.
Before that, he had a dominating win over Robbie Lawler where he won the fight via a onesided unanimous decision, setting a record for the most strikes thrown in a UFC bout with 541 strikes. It was his first fight in over a year after winning the interim welterweight title against Rafael dos Anjos. Just one more win and he will be facing the winner between Usman and burns.
Kamaru Usman is also getting ready to defend his title against brazil’s best Gilbert Burns. the fight was supposed to happen at UFC 251 but Burns tested positive and Masvidal came in has a new challenger on just a week’s notice. There are also rumors regarding Masvidal vs Diaz 2 but nothing has been officially announced by the UFC. There’s going to be lots of actions happening in the UFC welterweight division in the coming period.
