Tyron Woodley thinks Khabib is a ‘G’, but gets ‘wrecked’ by Ben Askren

In the post-UFC 229 and post-Conor McGregor era, the current UFC lightweight champion is arguably the UFC’s biggest active superstar. After wreaking havoc on a hapless McGregor, Nurmagomedov is now allegedly looking for a new opponent and while mostly rumours are that he’ll fight Georges St-Pierre, there are also a few who believe that his next opponent will be the UFC’s latest signing Ben Askren. Askren’s close friend, training partner and the current UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley believes that the Russian would get ‘wrecked’ by Askren.

Woodley recently did a live chat with his fans and followers on Instagram. In the live video, he talked about Askren’s arrival in the UFC and how he would potentially match-up against GSP and Khabib. Woodley truly feels that Askren can easily stylistically beat Khabib. Here’s what he had to say:

Khabib is a ‘G’ but Khabib ain’t never fought nobody like Ben, he never fought anybody like Ben, he ain’t never fought nobody like Michael Chandler. Those guys would wreck him on life. Chandler’s intensity is more, his striking is better. Ben doesn’t have the same intensity but his style is not one of intensity.

His style is one of scrambling, one of static strength, one of consistency, pressure, and ground and pound is ridiculous, jiu-jitsu is ridiculous, wrestling is ridiculous. His ability to get in close and put himself into positions where he’s going to be successful is bar none some of the best I’ve ever seen.
