Tyson Fury emphasizes on having “real boxing” fight against Oleksandr Usyk
Fast forward to Joshua’s recent fight against Ngannou. The former two-time unified world heavyweight champion showcased his dominance, putting Ngannou down three times in just two rounds. It was a masterclass in precision and power, leaving no doubt about Joshua’s capabilities.
Tyson Fury, who was ringside in Riyadh to witness Joshua’s devastating knockout, had mixed emotions.
“Me and Oleksandr Usyk have got an undisputed heavyweight world title fight coming up, and he’s just had a show fight – which is fantastic for the show, but for the actual real boxing it’s me and Usyk who fight for the #1 position and undisputed,” Fury was quoted by Michael Benson on X (formerly Twitter).
Tyson Fury on Anthony Joshua: “Me and Oleksandr Usyk have got an undisputed heavyweight world title fight coming up, and he’s just had a show fight – which is fantastic for the show, but for the actual real boxing it’s me and Usyk who fight for the #1 position and undisputed.”

While speaking to DAZN, the “Gyspy King” nad a similar notion of him and Usyk going to have an “actual real boxing”, but admitted to not being at his best against Ngannou last October
“I’m sure that Oleksandr Usyk will have something to say about that given he beat him twice,” said Fury regarding AJ. “For the actual real boxing, it’s me and Usyk who fight for the undisputed heavyweight world championship of the world. I had a s**t performance against Ngannou and I almost got it right, I predicted one round.”
While complimenting Joshua for his brutal knockout of the former UFC heavyweight champ, Fury did insist that if the fight happens once again a year from now, chances are the results could be different.
“He did absolutely fantastic tonight, he lit him up with a right hand and knocked him out. That’s what a boxer should have done with him, but if he fights next year it’ll be a different game,” the Briton added. [H/T Standard]
Usyk, having defeated Joshua twice, stands as a significant obstacle in Fury’s path. The rematch between Fury and Usyk is scheduled for May 18 in Riyadh, following a postponement due to Fury’s sparring injury. Joshua, meanwhile, awaits the winner of that clash, positioning himself for a shot at the undisputed heavyweight title.
