It’s making Tyson Fury sad that he will have to face the man he was named after, in the opposite corner when the WBC heavyweight champ faces Francis Ngannou next month.

The man that I am named after, a legend, has to go against me: Tyson Fury

Fury and Ngannou are set to square off on 28th October in Saudi Arabia in a 10-round exhibition bout. Marking the boxing debut of the former UFC heavyweight champion, Ngannou is being trained by Mike Tyson himself to face “The Gypsy King”.

Although he has never done full time training before, “Iron Mike” couldn’t turn down Ngannou when the PFL newcomer approached him for the fight against Fury. In the past few weeks, several videos of Tyson training Ngannou has emerged on social media. Even though its all part of the promotional tactic, it still saddens Fury.

Speaking to Sky Sports in a recent interview, Fury was asked about his views on Tyson training Ngannou, which the Briton acknowledged was making him sad as he believes it should have been him instead of his opponent.

“I think that it’s sad, actually,” said Fury regarding Tyson training Ngannou. ”The man that I am named after, a legend, has to go against me and then come out as a loser, having lost to a man who was named after him. I think that it’s sad and I think that he should be in my corner, not the opposing corner, but business is business and I understand that it’s strictly business.”

“No matter what he teaches this fella, no matter what boxing training he does, everyone’s got a plan until they get punched in the face. I’m not sure who said that, but I know that’s true. They’ve all got plans until they get smacked in the mouth,” he added. [H/T BJPenn.com]
