In the most recent issue of Wrestling Observer, seasoned wrestling and mixed martial arts journalist Dave Meltzer revealed the first concrete figures, and they don’t bode well for the financial aspects of this heavyweight bout.

In the United States, Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou sold about 56,000 buys on ESPN+ and about 11,500 buys on traditional television.

I will have the exact numbers tomorrow, but they were terrible,” longtime pro wrestling & combat sports journalist Dave Meltzer said on a recent Observer Radio segment (h/t Fight Ghost on Twitter). “Way below an AEW PPV. Possibly 10k for TV orders. I will have the streaming tomorrow. It was nothing close to Canelo or Diaz-Paul buys.

In contrast, although the KSI-Fury event probably performed better in the UK, the television buys were higher than those of the most recent stand-alone PPV events in the United States, which were Logan Paul vs. Dillon Danis and KSI vs. Tommy Fury.

Should these figures remain unchanged, this will undoubtedly be the least amount of purchases that Ngannou or Fury have ever made as the main attraction of a pay-per-view event.
