Preliminary Card: UFC Fight Pass

  • Gadzhimurad Antigulov defeated Joachim Christensen with a rear naked choke at 2:21 of Round 1.

 

  • Enrique Barzola defeated Gabriel Benítez in a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) in a 5 minute, 3 round fight.

 

  • Cortney Casey defeated Jessica Aguilar by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) in a grueling 5 minute, 3 round fight. Cortney looked at her career best with some grueling up-kicks.

Preliminary Card: FX

  • James Vick defeats Marco Polo Reyes by TKO at 2:39 of Round 1.

 

  • Chase Sherman defeats Rashad Coulter in a heavyweight bout by KO at 3:36 of Round 2.

 

  • Jason Knight defeats Chas Skelly by TKO at 0:39 of Round 3.

 

  • Eddie Alvarez vs. Dustin Poirier ended rather disappointing the fans after Eddie landed two unintentional illegal knees to the head while Dustin’s hands were on the ground leading to referee Herb Dean ending the bout in a No Contest. Both fighters were at their best until 4:12 of Round 2 when the incident occurred. Round 1 was dominated by Poirier while Eddie was trying to make a comeback before the stoppage.

 

 

Main Card

  • David Branch defeated Krzysztof Jotko by a split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) after a rather lackluster 3 round fight.

 

  • Frankie Edgar defeated Yair Rodriguez in a spectacular fight which ended in a Doctor Stoppage when Yair’s left eye looked bee-stung after taking some hellacious punches and elbow from Edgar.

 

 

  • Damian Maia defeated Jorge Masvidal by a split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) after three 5 minute rounds thus making Maia the rightful contender for championship fight against Tyron Woodley.

 

 

  • Joanna Jędrzejczyk retained her Strawweight belt against Jessica Andrade in a unanimous Decision(50-45, 50-44, 50-45). Joanna dominated the entire fight with some brutal kicks to the head. Props to Jessica for holding up for 5 rounds. This was Joanna’s 5th straight successful title defense.

 

 

  • Stipe Miocicretained his Heavyweight title against Junior Dos Santos in an action packed 2:22 minutes of Round 1. Stipe was initially stumbled by some kicks to the shin but finally ended up tagging Dos Santos who was looking to stay close to the cage.

 

 

Overall, UFC 211 turned out to be an Action-Packed Card with some Expected Results.
