UFC 223 is going to be one of the biggest MMA pay-per-views of the year. The event is scheduled to offer fans some highly mouth watering clashes. Fans and pundits alike have been salivating at the prospect of the various amazing fights the event has to offer. However, the highly anticipated event has also had it’s fair share of controversies. For instance, Mairbek Taisumov being denied a visa for his bout against the veteran Evan Dunham had created a huge stir. Dunham looked to have missed his chance to compete on the UFC 223 fight card. Though, it has now been confirmed that Olivier Aubin Mercier will now be facing Dunham at UFC 223.

Evan Dunham will be competing at UFC 223

Evan Dunham is a MMA legend and a UFC veteran. He possesses a MMA record of 18-6-1 and has multiple notable victories over fighters such as Joe Lauzon, Ross Pearson, Glesion Tibau, Nik Lentz, among many others.

After his split decision victory over Tibau at UFC 156, Dunham had went on a three fight losing streak. He lost those three bouts against top rated lightweights Rafael dos Anjos, Donald Cerrone, Edson Barboza and was on the verge of getting cut off from the UFC roster. However, he has since then turned around his fortunes and went on a four fight win streak. He last fought Beneil Darisuh at UFC 216 and drew the fight via a majority decision.

On the other hand, Aubin-Mercier is young, up-and-coming fighter and came into the UFC through the ranks of The Ultimate Fighter. He currently holds a MMA record of 10-2 and has lost both his fights due to razor close decisions. He is currently on a three fight win streak and last fought and defeated Tony Martin via split decision at UFC Fight Night 116.

After Dunham’s fight with Taisumov fell through, due to the latter’s visa issues, many fighters rejected the chance of fighting Dunham because there isn’t enough time left for the event. However, the young French Canadian apparently took the fight and will now be competing at UFC 223. The bout hasn’t yet been announced by the UFC. Though, both the fighters disclosed it on their social media accounts. Here’s what they posted:
