A one sided beat down that went down for five rounds saw Amanda Nunes defend her title belt for the third time. The very first strike of the fight was a leg kick that sent Pennington stumbling on the ground. Pennington was a game fighter but was just not on the level of Amanda and took a lot of beating. She tried eleven take down attempts but was successful with only one. While Amanda got multiple take downs her striking is what set the tone of the fight. By the final round, Pennington had taken a lot of beating and almost gave up. A dominant performance by the Lioness, sends a solid message to the bantamweight division that the belt belongs to Brazil and is going to stay for a long time.
