UFC 225 was reported to have done less than 150,000 pay per view buys according to a Los Angeles Times report. The number was considered as shockingly low for a card that was supposed to feature two title fights one of which was relegated to a non title fight due to Yoel Romero missing weight.
UFC Attorney Hunter Campbell claimed that the number was a ‘material misrepresentation’ and the real number ‘was something in excess of six figures’ but did not specify a number.

Industry sources with knowledge of the number pegged that as of the end of last week, it was estimated at doing about 250,000 buys, a number that would combine both the traditional television purchases and the streaming purchases. That would be lower to what would be expected for the show.
Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero was supposed to be a title fight which was relegated to a non title fight due to Romero missing weight while Colby Covington and Rafael Dos Anjos fought in an interim title fight. Also featured in the main card was former WWE star CM Punk who according to Dana White was promoted to the pay per view portion to sell the card. Google Trends showed that majority of searches were CM Punk, followed by Holly Holms and Colby Covington.
