The payroll for the fighters involved in UFC 241 was released yesterday. It came as no surprise that the two men fighting for the title of ‘the baddest man on the planet’ were the ones who took home the maximum amount of money.

The figures were received by MMA Junkie on Sunday from the California State Athletic Commission for the event, which took place at Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic was set to $750,000, irrespective of the outcome. Despite the win he didn’t receive the win bonus, as was already stated in his contract.

Cormier made a half a million dollars in the loss. Even he wasn’t set to get a win bonus had things turned out otherwise.

The total payroll of the event was a whooping $3.3 million dollars. That meant that the fighters on the co-main event had decent amounts to their name as well. Diaz made his much awaited return to the Octagon after a self imposed hiatus of three years. His impressive unanimous decision win over Anthony Pettis garnered him $250,000. The former lightweight champ Pettis won $155,000. The amount would have been doubled had he won the fight.

Other six-figure earners at UFC 241 were Derek Brunson who took home $190,000 after his win bonus for his win over Ian Heinisch; Cory Sandhagen, who beat Raphael Assuncao and made $154,000 win his bonus; and Paulo Costa at $120,000 and Yoel Romero  at $150,000 for their barn burner of a fight that won the “Fight of the Night” honours.
