When life gives you lemons, you’ve got to make lemonades. Might come across as a cliche but that’s exactly what happened with Brian Kelleher. Brian was scheduled to fight on the preliminary part of the card, but got a late call to have his fight moved to the main event. Brian Kelleher made the most of it as he had everything on the line as he lost his last two fights.
Ode Osbourne who got his break on Dana White’s Contender Series, was making his UFC debut against the veteran Kelleher. Looking to make a flashy start to his fight, Osbourne crawled out from his corner and exploded with a jumping punch at Kelleher. But Kelleher countered with a well-timed takedown. Once Kelleher got the fight to the floor, all he wanted to do was choke Osbourne out. With a slight opening for the guillotine choke, Kelleher locked onto the neck and pressed Osbourne against the cage to put pressure on his neck. Kelleher moved to his back to secure a most comfortable position and then latched the submission with his arms tied up. Osbourne was so tangled up that he had to use his foot tap out. A much needed win for Kelleher, who moves to 4-3 in the UFC while handing Osbourne his first loss inside the Octagon.
