UFC 247 card took place at the Toyota Center and it fully lived up to its hype. Jon Jones headlined the card alongside Dominick Reyes for the UFC light heavyweight title.

Whereas, Valentina Shevchenko defended her title against Katlyn Chookagian in the co-main event.

The entire fight card was extremely entertaining. However, fans were turned off by the extremely one-sided scorecards by one of the judges who had Jon Jones winning the fight 4-1.

Reyes showed his superior stand-up game and outstruck Jones in the first three rounds. Jones was unable to takedown Reyes, however, he was able to make a comeback in the championship round. The judges scored the fight 48-47, 48-47, 49-46 in favour of Jon Jones. The judge who had Jones winning 49-46 was  Joe Solis.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan went off at Joe Solis for his one-sided scorecards.

“I can’t argue about this enough,” Rogan said. “I can’t get angry enough. I’ve done it so many times. For anyone to think that was 4-1 Jon Jones, that person’s insane.

“They’re insane. Dominick Reyes put on a hell of a fight tonight. And to disrespect that performance by that kind of judging is insane.”

Valentina Shevchenko vs Katlyn Chookagian

In the co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko put on another dominant performance. She defeated Katlyn Chookagian via TKO in the third round. Valentina put on a clinic against Chookagian. The New Jersey native defence didn’t hold as Valentina fired off her combinations followed by a leg kick.

This troubled Chookagian all night. It also didn’t help that she was cut open by an elbow earlier in the fight.

“Every time I prepare to get some more. Of course, if I train hard, it’s every time easy in the fight,” Shevchenko said with the title on her shoulder after the win.

Shevchenko is currently riding on a five-fight winning streak. Her only loss in the UFC came twice to Amanda Nunes.

“I feel there is a lot of very good girls in 125 division,” Shevchenko said. “I still have to fight them. I’m open to anything., I’m open to any fight in the future.” (H/T – MMA Junkie)
