The UFC lightweight champion Khabib The Eagle Nurmagomedov is again set to face arguably the toughest opponent of his career in the form of the former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony El Cucuy Ferguson at UFC 249. While the fans are already excited about the mouth watering prospect of these two MMA behemoths taking on each other, but still apart from that there has not been much promotional work for the fight and the PPV event that has been done till now. And that is now all set to change as the UFC has announced the date for the official press conference for the event on March 6.
The Russian Nurmagomedov is extremely dominant and has a professional MMA record of 28-0 with multiple notable victories over fighters like the former UFC champ champ Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, Rafael dos Anjos, Edson Barboza, etc. On the other hand, Ferguson too has a great professional MMA record of 25-3 with multiple notable victories over fighters like Kevin Lee, Donald Cerrone, Rafael dos Anjos, Edson Barboza, among many others.
Interestingly their fight has been scheduled a record four times before, but they have never actually fought each other, with both fighters every time pulling out of injuries.
UFC 249 is all set to take place on April 18 at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York. Apart from Nurmagomedov and Ferguson in the headliner, the fight card for the event will also feature other noted fan favourite fighters like Rose Namajunas, Jeremy Stephens, Calvin Kattar, Urijah Hall, Ben Rothwell, etc.
The UFC recently officially confirmed that the first press conference for the event is set to take place in less than two weeks now and will happen a little more than a month before the actual PPV event on the sixth of March at the legendary T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
