The main event of the upcoming UFC 272, set to take place on 5th March at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, is going to feature one of the biggest and most anticipated fights of the year, between the welterweight superstars Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal. The two are well known for their caliber inside the cage and most of the MMA fandom believes that the fight will be very close. Joanna Jedrzejczyk herself is on the same boat, as the former Women’s Strawweight Champion believes while Covington is a powerhouse, Masvidal might have a surprise for his opponent.

In a rivalry arc of friends-turned-foe, Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal used to be former roommates, training partners, and friends, before things turned sour and the two found a newfound grudge for one another. While Masvidal’s POV cites Covington’s refusal to pay a trainer as the start of the rivalry, the latter accuses the former of being jealous.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk has been a witness of the Covington-Masvidal friendship as they trained together at the American Top Team, where the Polish fighter herself trains. In a recent interview with The Schemo, Jedrzejczyk said while Covington is “a hell of a fighter” and “very dedicated”, she believes Masvidal will pull off a shocker, referring to his fights against Ben Askren and Darren Till.
“It’s a big fight. It’s probably going to be one of the biggest fights of 2022. Jorge Masvidal has this ATT nation behind his back but Colby’s a hell of a fighter, very dedicated. I remember them both training here,” said Jedrzejczyk.
They used to do training together for one and a half hours and do some extra training together after. So, they both are very dedicated, very talented but I feel like Jorge Masvidal is going to surprise like he did in the fight with Ben Askren or Darren Till, for example,” she added. [H/T BJPenn.com]
