The UFC 296 press conference held in Vegas on Friday certainly lived up to the hype as it witnessed the event turn ugly very quickly.
Colby Covington shocked everyone when he came dressed as George Washington. Every one knew the stage was set for a night to remember. Colby’s cosplay was a reference to the American Revolution, where George Washington led his US army to victory against the British in the 1700s.

Things got out of hand when Colby decided to drag UFC welterweight champion Leon Edward’s dead father into their brawl. Chaos crossed all lines when he suggested, he would be “bringing you to the seventh layer of hell”. Colby went on to add “We’ll say “what’s up” to your dad while we’re there”.
This made an infuriated Edward to throw a bottle at Colby, and then charge at him. Security had to intervene to stop the champ and the challenger from creating a ruckus. Edwards’s father was allegedly a gangster. And was killed in a London nightclub when the UFC champion was just 13 years old.
Leon mostly kept his cool in the event and told his challenger to ‘keep the same energy backstage’

Colby took a dig at Ian Garry, by throwing a question at the audience “How many of you guys have f…ed Ian Garry’s wife?”

He spared no one as he went after UFC favorite Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson. He said, “Guys, you’re saying Stephen is so nice.”
“I gotta ask, he and dad drive around in a van with no windows and they lure kids into the bus with candy and karate and tell ‘em ‘let’s go back to the dojo’.”
“I gotta be honest, Stephen shouldn’t be on the top 10 list, he shouldn’t be on the pound-for-pound list. But he should be on that list all the community knows about.”
“I’m not saying he’s a pedophile but he checks all the boxes.”
