Recently there’s been talk/hope that Al Iaquinta and Justin Gaethje might throw hands sometime in the near future, but even though Dana White says that scrap isn’t going to happen, Brett Okamoto of ESPN reported that Justin Gaethje vs. Al Iaquinta will headline the UFC Fight Night event scheduled on Aug. 25 in Lincoln, Nebraska. UFC had this one targeted for weeks, and it’s been agreed to.
Since both Gaethje and Iaquinta are top ten ranked lightweights, both are coming off losses, and both are aggressive, pressuring fighters, it’s understandable that more than a few people want to see them battle. The fighters themselves have expressed an interest in throwing down via social media.

Dana White recently in UFC Podcast told that,
“Yeah that’s a fun fight, but it isn’t going to happen,” White said. “Iaquinta is absolutely 100-percent out of that fight.”
“He believes that, I’m pretty sure we just did a new deal with Al Iaquinta and he just got a good pay day against Khabib (Nurmagomedov) and he feels like, he has a deal, let me reiterate he has a deal.”
“He feels like if he moves up and fights guys higher ranked than him that he should be paid a lot more money. He feels that if he fights guys that a lower ranked than him, then he should make a lot less money.”
Everybody wants to see this fight, Hopefully Dana White finalizes it.
