The long search for an opponent to fight Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 227 finally is over. The two-time UFC light heavyweight title challenger will now meet Volkan Oezdemir next month. A lot of speculations were going on as to who will fight Gustafsson with names like Ovince St Preux being thrown in to fight Alex.
Volkan Oezdemir was scheduled to face Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua on July 22 in Germany, but the UFC opted to move him to UFC 227 against Alexander Gustafsson. Meanwhile, Shogun will be fighting Anthony Smith who himself was scheduled to fight in his hometown of Nebraska.
