Rockhold apparently injured his left leg during routine training last week and had to require surgery. Ariel Helwani posted a graphic video of Rockhold in surgery to confirm the news.

Judging by the video, Rockhold might be out for a while.

Dana White, however has no plans of removing ‘The Mauler’ from the card. While talking to reporters during the post-fight press conference at UFC Liverpool, White explained the situation.

“We have to get him another opponent,” White said about Gustafsson at the post fight press conference for UFC Liverpool. “We’ll keep him on that card and get him another opponent. Rockhold screwed up his shin.”

It is unsure who Gustafsson will face, with LHW bouts Volkan Oezdemir (2) VS Maurício ‘Shogun’ Rua (7) and Glover Teixeira (3) vs Ilir Latifi (4), all booked for UFC Hamburg on July 22, 2018 – just 2 weeks off UFC 227.

The only viable opponent left without a fight scheduled is Jan Błachowicz(5).
