A move to light heavyweight has been rejuvenating for Anthony Smith on all aspects. Not only it has helped his body feel better but he also finds himself at #9 spot on the rankings in just two fights with first round knockouts of two legends on his list.

Smith last fought former light heavyweight champion Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua replacing former title challenger Volkan Ozdemir on short notice at Fught Night 134. After defeating Rua, he also offered to step in and fight Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 227 next month. Not depleting himself allows Smith to take fights on short notice and he wishes to save the day one more time.
Fight Night 137 was supposed to be headlined by former title challenger #8 ranked Glover Teixeira and #5 ranked Jimi Manuwa on September in Sao Paulo, Brazil. However a shoulder injury has forced Teixeira to pull out of the fight leaving the main event spot empty. ‘Lionheart’ wants to cash in on the opportunity once again. (via Twitter):

Interestingly Smith already has a fight booked for himself just a month after Fight Night Sao Paulo against former title challenger and #2 ranked Volkan Ozdemir. Smith offering to step in seems to have not gone well with Ozdemir. (via Twitter):
