Former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion and UFC Hall of Famer ‘The Prodigy’ B.J. Penn has no plans of a comeback as of now.

When asked at the UFC Hall of Fame ceremony, Penn said he isn’t sure about a comeback.

“I don’t know. You never know,” Penn told media at the event (via Severe MMA). You never know what I’m going to do, but no plans, nothing scheduled.”

Penn made his comeback in January 2017. He decided to compete as a featherweight taking on young prospect Yair Rodriguez. Penn didn’t look remotely close as compared to his prime days. He landed a total of only 4 significant strikes until the second round where he was finished via TKO courtesy of a front kick.

He then fought veteran Denis Siver at Fight Night 112 in June. He lost the fight via unanimous decision. Penn hasn’t won a fight since 2010. However Penn isn’t completely dismissing the idea of a comeback. He believes he can fight again if the matchmakers give him somebody he can beat.

“Give me a guy that I can beat and I’ll come back,” Penn said.

“I wasn’t training for the whole time (after the fight), but I just started training the last month or two, because I get just so depressed when I’m out of the gym,” he said. “I gotta get in and work out.”
