Bellator 200 marked an amazing main event as Rafael Carvalho defended his belt for the fifth time against former UFC middleweight Gegard Mousasi.
Mousasi came in with a seven fight win streak however Carvalho was on a massive 15 fight win streak. Mousasi however snapped the 15 fight win streak of Carvalho defeating him via TKO in the first round to become the Bellator middleweight champion.
Mousasi wasted no time in calling out probably the biggest fight in Bellator right now, Bellator’s welterweight champion Rory ‘Red King’ MacDonald. MacDonald however accepted the challenge in an extremely sporting way. (via Twitter):
@mousasi_mma congratulations on you dominant victory, @ScottCoker @rich_chou i know you wanted a title defense from me before challenging at middle weight. but myself vs @mousasi_mma is the fight to make right now, so lets make this happen!?

The cold war between champs Mousasi and MacDonald caught Bellator President Scott Coker’s attention. Coker teased a super fight between the champions in the near future.
“Rory was blowing my phone up, going ‘let’s do it’”, Coker said at a Bellator 200 post-event media scrum. “‘Like, I wanna get this fight done’. You know what, we’ll go back and we’ll see. We’re working on a few things to see if it all makes sense, but that fight will happen soon. I mean, it will happen one day. But how soon? I’m not sure.”
MacDonald had the same blueprint like Mousasi towards Bellator gold. Coming out of UFC, MacDonald faced Bellator’s welterweight division superstar Paul Daley at Bellator 179 in May 2017. He won the fight via submission in round two. He then face dominant champion Douglas Lima at Bellator 192. He won the fight via unanimous decision.
