Indian MMA fans might have to wait a little longer for the first UFC victory as the pride of India, Bharat ‘Daring’ Kandare (5-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) who was scheduled to fight China’s Wuliji Buren (9-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at UFC 227 on August 4 has pulled out of his fight.
However, it was earlier announced that Kandare is out of his fight and is replaced by Ecuador’s Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera.
The reason is yet to be revealed. Kandare was the first Indian native fighter to be signed by the UFC and had the opportunity to be the first Indian native fighter to register a victory under the UFC banner.
Kandare last fought in his debut back at UFC Fight Night 122 in Shanghai back in November last year. Wuliji Buren made his debut on the same card as well. Kandare lost to another debutant Song Yadong via submission in the first round where Buren lost to Rolando Day via unanimous decision.
Marlon Vera (10-5-1 MMA, 4-4-0 UFC) will look to snap a two-fight losing streak. He was on a three-fighting UFC winning streak with wins over Brian Kelleher, Brad Pickett and Ning Guangyou before recently dropping decision losses to Douglas Silva de Andrade and John Lineker.
Indian MMA fans will be waiting to see Kandare back in action.
