Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor are still involved in banter over social-media and have been taking digs at each other ever since their boxing match. Mayweather has also raised speculation over his MMA debut by posting pictures and videos of him training inside the octagon. However, his striking coach Owen Roddy believes that the pair will instead face each other in a boxing re-match.

Conor McGregor last fought and defeated Diaz at UFC 202 via unanimous decision. He then went on to challenge former UFC lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez for his title. “The Notorious” defeated Alvarez via TKO in the second round at UFC 205. However, he has been on a hiatus from MMA ever since and instead went on to have a much discussed boxing match with the legendary Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather had a multi-million dollar boxing match last summer. “The Notorious” had lost the bout via TKO in the tenth round. Although, he did receive a lot of praise for his valiant effort against arguably the greatest boxer of the current generation.

The boxing bout between ‘Money’ Mayweather and “Mystic Mac” was one of the biggest ever. It sold around 4.3 million in PPV sales and it certainly won’t be a surprise if a rematch between the pair even breaks the record of Floyd vs. Pacquiao in PPV numbers.

McGregor’s striking coach, Roddy recently did an interview with Express Sport. Here’s what he had to say about a rematch between Mayweather-McGregor:

There’s definitely grounds for a rematch, without a doubt, if we got a longer camp things might have been different. Not to take anything away from (Floyd). It was great and Floyd won fair and square. And the thing is, Conor hasn’t fought professionally in a boxing match. He hadn’t fought (in boxing) prior to that fight.

With the experience we gained from that fight and a longer camp, it would be exciting to see what would happen the next time.

But, who knows?
