Mike ‘The Truth’ Jackson’s latest assertion that a bout with CM Punk may be in the works has a grain of truth to it, one feels.
After the pro wrestler turned MMA fighter tweeted out hinting that he is likely to fight in Chicago, presumably at UFC 225, his rumoured opponent had his say regarding a potential fight with him.
Speaking to MMAJunkie Radio, Mike Jackson mentioned that UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard had all but signalled to him that the fight was in the works.
Without giving too much away, [UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard] gives me the wink-wink and says, ‘Be patient. We’ll see what happens.
Jackson, who also lost to Mickey Gall in the UFC, would be in line for his second UFC fight should the showdown with CM Punk come to fruition.
However, despite being thrilled with the opportunity to fight in the UFC again, Jackson isn’t best pleased with his opponent’s comments about him.
There’s no need to negotiate, because I really just want to hit this dude so bad for calling me a can. I was so offended by that. So now I have to go put him in his own safe space.
What I don’t think a lot of people factor in is that [Punk has] never been some phenomenal athlete. He’s never been a ‘Rock’ [Dwayne Johnson] type character. He’s just one of these guys that’s just a tough guy.
Then you factor in the mileage that the pro wrestling career put on his body. He’s closing in on 40 years old. And another thing that people don’t grasp is that striking is far harder to learn and master than jiu-jitsu. These are facts.
Do you think that a CM Punk vs Mike Jackson fight is something that fans will be interested in watching?
