As reported by MMAFighting, Cody Garbrandt once again recalled being kicked in the teeth by Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Apparently, Garbrandt opined that Van Damme is a sensitive Hollywood guy. Besides, ‘No Love’ also asserted that he holds no hard feelings towards Van Damme for the incident.
Cody Garbrandt recently partook in a training session with former kickboxer and legendary Hollywood action star Jean-Claude Van Damme.
During the light-sparring/technical sparring session between the duo, Van Damme dinged Garbrandt in the teeth with a kick.
A video showing Garbrandt receiving the kick from Van Damme later went viral on the internet—a clip in which Garbarndt seemed to be quite upset after getting hit.
Recalling the incident, Cody Garbrandt stated—
“He just can’t control himself,” Garbrandt said of Van Damme. “He got too excited in there. He was running all over the place like he was on shit.”
“What is Jean Claude gonna show me?” Garbrandt said. “I respect the guy. But he’s two hours late, he had to warm up. I was annoyed by the whole thing.”
“It was just a circus act, to be honest,” Garbrandt said. “I looked over at this buddy and his manager. I was like, you gotta get this guy out of my face.”
Cody Garbrandt recalled that the entire gym stopped when it happened, since Van Damme dropped to his knees and began crying, because he was sorry.
Nevertheless, Garbrandt alleges that he heard it was not the first time Van Damme had done something like that.
“It looked like I punched him and dropped him,” Garbrandt said. “People didn’t know he kicked me. I was just annoyed with the guy and I’m like, ‘all right, I’m done with this fool’ and walked out of the cage.”
“He’s an old guy,” Garbrandt stated. “What am I gonna do? Pummel him? It’s a lose-lose. We’re cool. I went to his premiere. It is what it is. He’s just a sensitive Hollywood guy.”
