Engaging into verbal wars with fellow UFC fighters is not new for the welterweight interim title challenger Colby ‘Choas’ Covington. He has went back and forth with the likes of Tyron Woodley, Rafael Dos Anjos, Kamaru Usman, Mike Perry, Derek Brunson, Sam Alvey, Chase Sherman, Ben Saunders, Fabricio Werdum, analyst Kenny Florian and many others. This time however he had some words for the veteran UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

Rogan on his podcast the JRE MMA Show had some words of criticism for Covington. Rogan said:

“Jon Jones is going to be in front of you one day. You’ve got to be careful, watch your f**king words. You’re going to get slapped in the face by a guy who can kill you with his hands. That’s a bad move.”

“I get what Colby’s doing. He’s making a lot of noise and trying to do business. And if you fight him, you’re going to make a lot of money, because a lot of people are going to come and see him get his ass kicked.”

In a recent interview however Covington had his own heated statements for Rogan. He said:

“I think Joe Rogan should worry about what he’s saying about me because we might just meet face to face soon in the near future. He might be commentating that Chicago card, so that’s kind of hypocritical of him to say something like that because when he’s talking about me, we might be face to face. I might just have to slap him.”

Rogan in the latest episode of his podcast tried to talk things down.

”Colby Covington, don’t slap me,” Rogan said with a smile. “You said you were going to slap me? Don’t slap me. I was talking s**t. Because I was telling that Jon Jones might slap him. ‘I might slap you!’ I like Colby, I like what he’s doing. He’s talking a lot of s**t, I’m just saying be careful who you talk shit to. Talking s**t to Jon Jones … he’s one of the baddest motherf**kers who ever lived.”

”He’s making a lot of money, he’s being smart,” Joe said. “The reason Colby is fighting for the title, the reason Colby is going to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the interim title, is not just because he’s beaten good guys, because he has beaten Demian Maia. But it’s more importantly that he’s going to put asses in the seats. Part of the fight business now. There’s pre- and post-Conor McGregor, and post Conor McGregor the game has changed. It’s red panties night, baby. Everything’s different.” (via YouTube):

Covington takes on former UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos for the interim UFC welterweight title at UFC 225 on June 9 in Chicago, Illinois.
