With interim welterweight champion Colby Covington recovering from some health issues, #2 ranked undefeated prospect Darren Till got an opportunity to face champion Tyron Woodley for the title at UFC 228 in September.
As per UFC President Dana White, Covington will face the winner of Woodley and Till. However, if either man decide to take a hiatus, Covington has a list of other options planned out.
First on his list is probably the best welterweight of all time, Georges St-Pierre.
“GSP, that little syrup sucker, he can come get this. He thinks he’s the greatest welterweight of all time. I have something else to say about that. I’ll destroy him. I’ll send him back to Canada crying”, Covington told MMA Weekly.
Next on his list is fan favourite, Stockton’s own Nick Diaz, who has not fought since three years.
“Nick Diaz is another guy,” Covington said. “If he stops beating women, he can come get it, too. He’s probably going broke soon cause he’s been in jail and he’s spending all his money on drugs. He can come get this ass whooping, too.”
Last but not the least, Covington eyes the winner of the biggest fight in the history of the sport, between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
“There’s a couple lightweights — Khabib [Nurmagomedov] and Conor [McGregor] — if they want to make a claim to another belt, I’ve got the undisputed welterweight belt. So those fights might present themselves,” Covington said. “Besides those fights, that’s the only ones out there in the universe for me right now.”
