UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor has always known how to stay in the news by creating headlines. The sensational martial artist and professional boxer is also an expert in using social media to his advantage. The world has often seen him taking digs at his rivals via social media. However, the Irishman has this time created headlines by a comment he made on his own Instagram post. In his comment McGregor has stated that his trilogy fight with Nate Diaz will happen.
Conor McGregor last fought and defeated Diaz at UFC 202 via unanimous decision. He then went on to challenge former UFC lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez for his title. “The Notorious” defeated Alvarez via TKO in the second round at UFC 205. However, he has been on a hiatus from MMA ever since and instead went on to have a much discussed boxing match with the legendary Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.
On the other hand, Nate Diaz hasn’t fought inside the octagon since he lost his rematch to the Irishman at UFC 202. He had previously choked out McGregor via a rear-naked choke at UFC 196. There has been some hearsay that the Stockton native will soon re-enter the cage.
“Mystic Mac” had posted a series of pictures on his Instagram in which he can be seen practising BJJ. In one of the pictures, McGregor was seen locking on to a rear-naked choke. Hence, a fan tried taking a sly dig at the MMA superstar and referred to Diaz’s victory over him at UFC 196. McGregor then shut down the man with an extremely witty reply in which he talked about how “rear-naked choke” is truly a beautiful position and also discussed his triology fight with Diaz. However, after his reply went viral, McGregor edited his comment in favour of a shorter version in which he only talks about Diaz and their triology bout.
Here’s what he commented:
“Respect to Nate [Diaz] always and our trilogy will be special when we do it 100%. There is no rush @NateDiaz209 our trilogy will show true to us for what we are. Warriors.”
