Former Olympic freestyle wrestling gold medalist Henry ‘The Messenger’ Cejudo added another feather in his cap by capturing the UFC flyweight belt defeating pound-for-pound #1 ranked fighter Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson.
Cejudo did the unthinkable by defeating Johnson and snapped his reign of consecutive eleven title defenses. However to replicate something like that, Cejudo has finally spotted his successor. (via Instagram):
The champion was featured in a meet and greet session organized by UFC before UFC 228 in Dallas. It was during this meet Cejudo finally got to meet a familiar face Alex Bilbrey. Cejudo also squeezed in a small session with Bilbrey and immediately got to know the talent this young kid possesses. Cejudo took to Instagram claiming he was chilling with ‘the next Flyweight champion’. Cejudo then signed an autograph for Bilbrey with the words ” To ‘Alexander the Great’, follow your dreams and never give up”. (via Instagram):
Bilbrey however is not a one trick pony and also does Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai and Boxing at such a tender age. Training out of Peak Performance gym in Keller, Texas, Bilbrey certainly aspires to fight in the UFC one day.
With him dedicating himself, it’s just a matter of time that we will see him fighting in the UFC.
