Curtis Blaydes is currently ranked #2 in the UFC heavyweight rankings. However, his road hasn’t been merry all the way. In his debut in April 2016 against Francis Ngannou, “Razor” suffered a TKO loss, thanks to a doctor’s stoppage at the end of the second round. This was also his first defeat in both his amateur and professional career.

With his latest win over Alistair Overeem at UFC 225, Blaydes took a trip down the memory lane. In a tweet, he pondered over the fact about how much his life has changed from his first fight in the UFC. Having no coach, the only people in Blaydes corner were his friend, manager and manager’s friend.

Now a top prospect in the UFC heavyweight division, Blaydes has his eyes set on the ultimate price – the elusive gold that adorns Stipe Miocic’s waist. Having defeated veteran names in the buisness, which include Mark Hunt and Alistair Overeem, Blaydes is certainly proving to be a genuine contender for a title fight.
