The Ultimate Fighting Championship has cut yet another fighter from their roster as one of the company’s top-ranked middleweight fighters Elias Theodorou was cut by the UFC. The news was first reported by Raphael Marinho of Brazilian MMA portal Combate.

He is amongst a few fighters cut by the UFC yesterday. A few days ago, the promotion cut Justin Willis because he couldn’t make the heavyweight limit of 265 pounds.

The UFC’s decision to cut the #15 ranked Canadian middleweight contender is a bit surprising considering he was in the co-main event against Derek Brunson at UFC Ottawa earlier this month. The fight was a complete lacklustre as Theodorou lost the fight via unanimous decision. The fight had little action and he was even booed by his own countrymen. Before this loss, Theodorou was riding on a three-fight winning streak.

Elias Theodorou captured the glass trophy on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): “Nations” reality show back in early 2014.

In his time with the UFC, Theodorou compiled an 8-3 record with the promotion. He was also the first ring boy in MMA for Invicta FC.  Wilson Reis, Marcelo Golm and Eric Shelton are amongst the fighters that have been released by the promotion.
